In this text, I have attempted to analyze some connections between the concepts of masculinities, bodies and media. I have examined a plurality of masculine prototypes that are presented in media, delineating surfaces of emergence of different masculinities, and showing where they may appear. I have also highlighted discourses about the so-called ‘new’ masculinities, particularly those that have constructed masculine body memories and discourses in media. Therefore, this study evidences the interlocution between bodies and masculinities in print media and on television. This research has led to me to conclude that we become aware that there is neither masculinity nor a masculine body prototype as solid as a rock, one that provides the guarantee of being fully experienced for a whole life. In the media discourses, there are several masculinities and they are regarded as negotiable and revocable.Downloads
