The origins of the Latin American independences in the Atlantic perspective

Abstract

On the eve of the Independences in Latin America, links across the Atlantic have allowed the circulation of knowledge of illustration, revolutions in North America and France. Despite internal reasons such as the Bourbon and Pombal Reforms having led to the Independences, their basis was the exchange of knowledge. The case of Haiti, a symbol of violent abolition of slavery, shows that the exchange of knowledge did not have one single direction.
