Abstract

The Royal Road of Interior Land, Cultural Heritage of Humanity, represents a cultural itinerary of great relevance, crucial for understanding New Spain's history. This declaration faces controversies due to the non-linear arrangement of the inscribed sites and omissions of relevant sites. This article analyzes these discrepancies through a deep documentary and cartographic analysis, highlighting their cultural importance and the need for a broader and more detailed review.

Author Biographies

Gabriel Sánchez Dajlala, Autonomous University of Aguascalientes, Aguascalientes, Mexico.

She was born in Hidalgo del Parral, Chihuahua, on December 2, 1980, where she completed her basic education. In 1999, she moved to Zacatecas City to pursue university studies and work on issues related to the conservation of built heritage, where she worked in public administration from 2009 to 2012. In 2012, she traveled to Seville to study for a master's degree in sustainability, and upon returning to Mexico, she worked on heritage restoration projects in her hometown in 2015. She received the "Summa cum laude" distinction for her doctorate in Anthropogenic Sciences from the University of Aguascalientes, Mexico, under a CONAHCYT scholarship program of the Mexican government.

Alejandro Acosta Collazo, Autonomous University of Aguascalientes, Aguascalientes, Mexico.

An architect from the Autonomous University of Aguascalientes (UAA); Master in Restoration of Sites and Monuments and Master in Regional Urban Planning from the University of Guanajuato; PhD in Architecture from the National Autonomous University of Mexico (UNAM); Diploma in Landscape Architecture; specializing in City Management and Urban Development from the National School of Administration (ENA) in Paris, France, and in Statistical Methods from the CIMAT of CONAHCYT. He is a full-time professor in the Department of Architecture at the UAA. He is a Level 1 National Researcher in Mexico. He has supervised twelve doctoral dissertations and five master's theses. He served as Research Secretary of the Center for Design and Construction Sciences from 2020 to 2023.

Andrés Reyes Rodríguez, Autonomous University of Aguascalientes, Aguascalientes, Mexico.

Born in Aguascalientes, Mexico, he is a professor and researcher in the Department of History at the Autonomous University of Aguascalientes. He holds a bachelor's degree in Psychology and a master's degree in Regional Studies from the Dr. José María Luis Mora Research Institute in Mexico City. He earned his doctorate in Social Sciences with a specialization in Social Anthropology. He is a member of the Latin American Political Science Association. He is the author of several books and essays on democracy, the middle class, and urban history. He has been a member of the National System of Researchers since 1991. He has served in public office, presiding over both the National Institute of Anthropology and History (INAH) in Aguascalientes and the Aguascalientes Cultural Institute.
