The AID police assistance program in Uruguay (1965-1974)

Abstract

This article analyzes the interference of the United States in Uruguayan internal politics throughout the years that preceded the military coup; it documents the decisive role played by the AID Public Safety Program in the repression of the social and guerrilla movements and sponsoring the authoritarian policies that culminated in the dictatorial regime.
