Abstract

This article examines the procession of royal flag in the conquest day in Mexico City. Town council members were in conflict with parcialidades' governors and with audiencia ministers. In using such conflicts as examples, the author seeks to show that the study of festivals and public rituals is important to understand New Spain's political cultural in the early XIX century.
