This article seeks to analyse how occured the telephone implantation and its diffusion in the cicies of Porto Alegre and Pelotas, state of Rio Grande do Sul, Brazil. We deal with the conflicts and the strategies which the distinctives innovative players bring into action at the moment of the construction of the first telephone networks.
