This article attempts to take part in the continued polemics about populism in Latin American countries. In order to do that, it researches on the images produced by some intelectuais in the 1940's and 1950's. These images deal with both the socio-economic transformations they thought were taking place and also with their views about the emergent political movements, later called "populist" ones.
