This article seeks to examine the cultural practices os crioulo and African slaves in Rio Grande do Sul, at the end of 19th century, so as to investigate howw masters’ values would have been anppropriated by slaves. It will explore the interaction between African and local cultures with the White dominant culture, without downplaying the cultural exchanges ans transformations resulting from the encouter with other Africans.
