Os jesuítas e a Era do Algoritmo. Uma introdução à análise de sentimentos da correspondência colonial ultramarina portuguesa

O artigo investiga o impacto das tecnologias digitais no ofício do historiador, destacando as oportunidades e os desafios que essas ferramentas trazem consigo. Concentrando-se na análise da presença da Companhia de Jesus nos registros do Arquivo Histórico Ultramarino, entre 1642 e 1822, o texto examina como a inteligência artificial (AI) pode contribuir para o enriquecimento da pesquisa histórica. Destaca-se, assim, a necessidade de um diálogo entre o historiador e as tecnologias, sem negligenciar o papel humano neste processo. A análise discute, de modo especial, um algoritmo conhecido por “análise de sentimentos”, tomando-o como um exemplo que ilustra o quanto a qualidade dos dados influencia o desempenho da AI.
