This work deals with cases of slaves who managed to obtain their manumission through loans and leases. We note the expectation that those who won their freedom would continue to work as when they were slaves, which of course was not in the plans of those that were freed. We conclude that the historical experiences examined allow us to access a set of representations of work and how life would be as a free man.Downloads
