Abstract

This study aims at analyzing the theme of the double, under a Platonic perspective, in “Ripuária”, a short story included in Tutaméia (Terceiras Estórias) (1967), by João Guimarães Rosa (1908-1967). The analysis will try to show, in the mentioned text, the construction of love based on the idea of androgyny, related in The banquet, as well as the idea of prison versus wish of release, present in the allegory of the cave, related in book VII of The republic.
