Abstract

The question asked by the title of the article is the theme of the conversation which the text wishes to share. It is an invitation to take pathways in encounters with art, with the word “esthetics”, with the potential of contemporary art, with the “look of the French Mission”, which insists on considering art as the expression of beauty. Along this pathway, the proposal of reading an incomplete image tries to provoke conceptual comings and goings in the perception of the very act of reading offered as an educational curatorship in the procedures of cultural mediation. Triggering, unlocking. Is not this the main task of cultural mediation: opening what was locked, freeing a look fixed on what is already known to see beyond? Is not this the meaning of esthetic education? Would not the territories of art of art & culture, instigating rhizomatic thinking be the esthetic nourishment to go beyond known works of art and the artists’ biographies? When broadening horizons, the reader has to provide the answer: After all, art only in the art class?

Author Biography

Mirian Celeste Ferreira Dias Martins, Universidade Presbiteriana Mackenzie.

possui graduação em Licenciatura em Desenho e Plástica (1970), mestrado em Artes pela Escola de Comunicações e Artes/Universidade de São Paulo (1992) e doutorado em Educação pela Universidade de São Paulo (1999). Atualmente é docente do curso de pós-graduação "Educação, Arte e História da Cultura" na Universidade Presbiteriana Mackenzie onde coordena o Grupo de Pesquisa em Mediação Cultural: contaminações e provocações estéticas. É sócia-diretora do Rizoma Cultural - projetos em arte, educação e cultura; assessora de instituições educacionais e culturais, co-responsável pela Proposta Curricular de Arte da Scretaria de Estado da Educação de São Paulo. Foi docente e coordenadora de Grupo de Pesquisa em Mediação arte/cultura/público do Instituto de Artes/Unesp - Universidade Estadual Paulista Júlio de Mesquita Filho; co-coordenadora da DVDteca do Instituto Arte na escola/Fundação Iochpe. Tem experiência em formação de educadores, atuando na área de Artes nos seguintes temas: mediação cultural, arte, ensino de arte, currículo, educação e formação de educadores.Entre outros livros e artigos, é co-autora do livro Teoria e prática do ensino de Arte: a língua do mundo/FTD, selecionado pelo MEC para o Programa Nacional de Bibliotecas da escola PNBE do Professor 2010. É co-autora do projeto selecionado pelo Programa Petrobras Cultural: Por trás da cena. Obs: O presente currículo contem informações apenas sobre produções e atuações mais recentes.
