Abstract

There are two premises commonly accepted in the academy, that can be summarized into the following propositions: the university is attended by adults and adults know what they want. Therefore, the university teacher doesn’t need to worry about “pedagogias” and, in order to teach his class, what the teacher only needs is knowing the content and have good communication skills. With these two affirmatives in mind, the article presents some counterpoints, based on studies and researches that bring contemporary ideas concerning the epistemological dimensions at the learning process. Social-political and cultural aspects are also considered, as well as some alternatives for the day-by-day classroom routines.
