The policy of teacher education of UNESCO in the Main Project for education for Latin America and the Caribbean

The present paper has as its main goal to analyze UNESCO educational orientations in the 1990 decade in the Principal Project of Education in Latin American and the Caribbean. In the end of 1970 decade UNESCO has formulated and stimulated priorities for education development in Latin American and the Caribbean countries. A main point in this agenda was the Principal Project of Education (1981) which encompasses principles and strategies to develop educational policies in the region. Between the start and the end of the Principal Project of Education in Latin (1980-1990) there was two decades marked by changes in the educational fi eld, as well as, in the political, economic, and cultural fi elds. It was also a goal of this paper to identify the UNESCO main lines of orientation to teacher education in the same Project in the 1990 decade.
