A globalização, como paradigma econômico e social predominante, trouxe uma nova forma de interação global que não é isenta de controvérsias. Em resposta, a educação foi transformada e está passando da educação para a globalização para a educação global. A liderança necessária é caracterizada por serviço e ética, visionária, holística e, portanto, espiritual, cuidando das pessoas e capaz de responder ao desenvolvimento educacional de uma cidadania global plena e crítica.
