Abstract

Deliberative democracy consists in a proposal of decision taking, in democratic societies, by means of deliberation, as preferential alternative to ballot systems. This paper intends, in the first place, to make a critical assessment of some of the mechanisms of deliberative democracy; it intends as well to show the state of the discussion thereof and, finally, to study its viability in some countries, especially in Brazil.
