Abstract

Considering that Hermeneutics and Psychoanalysis consist of the exercise of interpreting and understanding the world, I will develop, in this article, the similarity between both in relation to the object and the method of investigation. I will show that both aim to know the human soul, by understanding, contributing to its improvement through the use of a measure appropriate to it and its purpose, which is to live happily. Considering Gadamer’s philosophical project, I will justify that the dialogical praxis, common to Hermeneutics and Psychoanalysis, enables the care of the soul translated into its happiness and stamped on its different faces, such as pleasure of understanding, establishment of meaning and growth of being. The set of these dimensions constitutes an epistemology appropriate to the improvement of the soul and reveals its ethical feature.
