About the Journal
Brief history of the magazine
Veritas - PUCRS Journal of Philosophy is the first journal of the institution, created in 1955. Initially, it was the University Magazine, becoming, over time, the Journal of the Institute of Philosophy and Human Sciences.
It is currently the journal of the Graduate Program in Philosophy, indexed in the main systems, platforms and national and international databases. The publications are made available in a continuous flow and receive collaborations in the area of Philosophy, according to the theme of the respective number, and interdisciplinary contributions.
Mission
The Journal's mission is to publish original academic works related to the field of Philosophy that contribute to the theoretical, methodological, and/or empirical improvement of the area.
Focus and Scope
Publication of research in philosophy and interdisciplinary areas that contribute to contemporary reflection, as well as to the improvement of the research process and scientific dissemination, with a view to creating knowledge networks between research institutions and the academic community at the service of society.
Peer Review Process
Submitted texts are formally evaluated first by the editorial staff, who may request corrections and additions. Texts that do not fall within the scope of the Journal, that do not meet mandatory requirements or that are not adequate within the established deadline will be archived. Once the admissibility of the submission has been verified, two opinions are requested from people specialised in the subject, which will be used by the publishers, with the latter remaining the final decision. Publication of papers is subject to compliance with its recommendations. The evaluation takes into account the originality of the treatment of the theme, the consistency and rigor of the approach, its contribution and its adequacy to the journal's thematic line. The review system is double-blind: the names of the reviewers will remain confidential and the names of the authors before the reviewers will also be omitted.
Evaluators are expected to be objective in their assessment. If there is any conflict of interest or difficulty in making a judgment without significant influence from external factors, they should contact the editors. They are expected to indicate relevant literature if not accepted in the text. The text and other information provided in the evaluation process should be treated confidentially and may not be used for any other purpose.
Publication Frequency
Continuous flow of publication.

This journal adopts the principles of Open Science, aligning itself with contemporary practices that promote transparency, accessibility, and the dissemination of scientific knowledge.
The journal accepts for evaluation manuscripts already available on a reliable preprint server, such as SciELO Preprints, of a non-commercial nature, provided they are not simultaneously undergoing peer review in another journal. Authorship
The authors are original owners and will be responsible for the originality and authorship of their creation, not being the publisher penalised, civil or criminally, for eventual plagiarism or inappropriate content.

By submitting the manuscript, the authors ensure that the work has not been previously published or is being reviewed by another journal.
Literal copies of excerpts already published will not be accepted, except in exceptional cases, in the form of quotation. Illustrations and graphics from other

Regarding the retraction policy, in case of misconduct, the Veritas journal follows the guidelines adopted by the SciELO platform according to the Good Practices Guide and the Guide for the registration and publication of retractions. Retractions will only be published after analysis and authorization by the editorial board.
Conflict of Interest
Veritas requires all authors, editors, and reviewers to declare any conflicts of interest, financial or non-financial, that may influence—or be perceived to influence—the reader's interpretation of the article. Perceptions of conflicts of interest are as relevant as actual conflicts. Whenever there is any relationship between the authors and public or private organizations that could generate a conflict of interest, this information must be communicated and specified in the article. If there are no conflicts of interest, this must also be explicitly stated.
Ethics Committee
The Veritas journal is a member of the Committee on Publication Ethics (COPE) and follows its principles of ethics, transparency, and integrity in publication.
Instructions for Reporting Complaints and Reports
Complaints against the journal or its staff should be addressed, in the first instance, to one of the two editors-in-chief. As appropriate, they will conduct an internal investigation. If necessary, they may request additional assistance from the Editorial Board. The investigation should be carried out swiftly and transparently.
Error correction and retractions
Authors must commit to the publishing house, delivering the text in appropriate language and suitable for publication. However, you must notify the publisher if an error is identified in order to publish an erratum.
