Abstract

Introdução: O papel da família no cuidado ao paciente oncológico é fundamental, mas pode causar estresse aos cuidadores. Este estudo tem como objetivo identificar o estresse, bem como avaliar a relação com as redes de apoio e determinar o perfil sociodemográfico dos cuidadores familiares de pacientes com câncer atendidos no estado do Pará. Métodos: Estudo realizado com 150 cuidadores familiares adultos de pacientes internados em um centro de tratamento oncológico. Foram coletados dados sociodemográficos e aplicada a Escala de Estresse Percebido. Estatísticas descritivas e inferenciais foram utilizadas para análise dos dados. Resultados: Os maiores escores de estresse foram encontrados no sexo feminino. Houve relação entre o nível de estresse e local de residência e escolaridade. Discussão: O apoio à saúde mental dos cuidadores é essencial. A carga emocional associada pode ser aliviada com o apoio familiar. Conclusões: Existe uma necessidade contínua de apoio e intervenção para cuidadores de pacientes com câncer.
