The perception of quality of life is relevant for health promotion, considering the bio-psycho-functional and environmental aspects of the academic career. Sleep hygiene, as a behavioral system, is complex and unusual, as poor-quality sleep can precipitate or exacerbate depressive symptoms; both can impact the mental health and quality of life of college students. Aims: to identify the interface of quality of life, sleep satisfaction and depressive symptoms perceived by university students in the health field. Methods: this is a cross-sectional observational study, carried out with validated questionnaires, applied to a sample of students, considering the quality of academic life, sleep quality outcomes and the occurrence of depressive symptoms. Results: there were 239 university students, 158 (66,1%) women, mean age 22±3,5 years. The perception of quality of life and sleep as poor reached 39,3% and 71,8% respectively, the percentage of depressive signs was 44,8% of the sample. The association between quality of life and indicators of depression was significant and obtained r=5,63 (p<0,01; OR:1,4; 95%CI = 1,0;1,8). The quality of life and sleep> declared as poor, obtained r=3,91 (p<0,04; OR:1,8; 95%CI = 1,0;3,0). Conclusion: quality of life declared as poor was commonly associated with sleep disorders and indicative of depression among students. These correlated outcomes presuppose risk factors for physical and mental health even in a supposedly healthy population. Preventative proposals are necessary to mitigate these illness triggers in this population group.> <0,04; OR:1,8; 95%CI = 1,0;3,0). Conclusion: quality of life declared as poor was commonly associated with sleep disorders and indicative of depression among students. These correlated outcomes presuppose risk factors for physical and mental health even in a supposedly healthy population. Preventative proposals are necessary to mitigate these illness triggers in this population group.
