The article of Barbosa and Costa, published in this issue, shows that leishmaniasis persists infecting and killing. Complex phenomena, such as the interaction between microorganisms and their hosts, need for an integrated approach from several expertises to generate satisfactory solutions. There is no disease that does not require interdisciplinarity as the next stage of advancement in the search for solutions. In addition to vaccines, we need knowledge on social , anthropological and cultural determinants of diseases.Downloads
