Abstract

Aims: To evaluate a manual for guidance, remote interventions, and the feasibility of developing them in ILPIs (Long-Term Care Facilities for the Elderly). Methods: Online cross-sectional experimental study. Approximately 150 ILPIs were invited to participate via email, WhatsApp groups, and seven agreed to participate and evaluate the guidance manual. Data were presented descriptively and qualitatively. Results: Seven ILPIs from the states of São Paulo and Minas Gerais, with private financial resources, possessing internet network/signal, and an average of 35 residents, mainly women, evaluated the Guidance Manual. They concluded that the manual is an interesting and viable resource, with appropriate activities and format to be developed with institutionalized elderly. They considered that the manual provides clear information and sufficient elements for the development of similar proposals. Conclusion: The environment and changes in the routine of institutions can cause psychological distress, such as depression, in the elderly. To minimize this, it is important to offer leisure activities that promote interaction, thinking, spontaneity, and strategies to maintain contact with family, community, and other residents. Activities carried out via video call can help reduce the negative effects of institutionalization. The discussed study provided insights from ILPIs regarding the feasibility and acceptance of video call interventions aimed at promoting socialization, quality of life, and well-being of institutionalized elderly.
