Abstract

The text by Hans-Georg Gadamer, which has been presented in Portuguese translation, comprises a broader effort to investigate Music Hermeneutics in his Complete Works (Gesammelte Werke). From a fundamental point of view, it brings about the issues raised upon the comprehension and interpretation phenomenon presented in Truth and Method (1960) (Wahrheit und Methode), concerning mainly the art experience in the first part of the Work. The music experience is sought after through several texts about music that can be found in the whole Work and which have not yet been translated into Portuguese. This way, by considering the contemporary success of Hermeneutics in the scope of science debate against the objectifying methodological claims and the resulting critique about epistemology, the Gadamerian resource applied to music unfolds on the paths of ontological criticism about the aesthetic way of being. The writing Goethe and Mozart - the Opera problem (1991) establishes the ninth Volume of Complete Works under the title Ästhetik und Poetik II: Hermeneutikim Vollzug.
