Abstract

The implementation of state atheism continued throughout the 1980s. Despite this fact, this period is commonly recognized as a moment of dialogue between the Catholic Church and the socialist State until its second half. From then on, the religious institution went on the offensive, believing that the island regime was following the same path of decline that Eastern Europe was going through. In this second part of this article, we deal with this decade with special attention to the Cuban National Ecclesial Meeting (ENEC), which we understand to be the most important event in Catholicism.
