The new golden age of television features mainly by intricate dramatic TV series with multiple plots, hard themes, nonconventional diegesis, and productions with technical, budgetary and human (director, cast, producers, screenwriters) resources comparable to mainstream cinematographic productions. Through the analysis of TV series Westworld (HBO, 2016) this paper investigates the context of production and basic aspects of the narrative in order to understand how the creators built its complexity. The analysis uses the Mittell’s studies about TV complexity narrative and Bachelard and Durand’s reflections on imagination. The conclusion is that the complexity in Westworld is built, among other strategies, from intricate temporal and spatial conceptions in its diegesis.
