Abstract

This article discusses the professional intervention of social workers with families. To do so, some observations are presented about the professional practice of social workers with families, considering data from empiric and bibliographic research. These observations raise questions about issues such as the “indifferentiation” of professional activities and their complexity and about challenges to the construction of a “new” professional practice with families. Based on the analysis conducted, a preliminary discussion is proposed about the possibilities for the construction of another cartography that can come to be a tool to discuss work with families in the context of Social Work.
Key words – Families. Professional practice. Social Work.
