Labour and retirement: the social repercussions in the life of the elderly retired worker

Abstract

This article proposes reflections about the relationships among work, retirement and third age, segment that today represents a significant portion of the population. The work is considered essential for the quality of life of the subjects, that are excluded of the labor market a lot of times, without great reintegration possibilities The difficulties faced by the seniors to stay now in the labor market are discussed. It is also important the preparation for the retirement phase and the seniors need to continue participating in all the ambits of the social life and battling to turn effective its rights.
