Abstract

Knowing the role of the school library in encouraging reading, this work aims to report a successful project experience with the final years of elementary school in a private school in the countryside of Rio Grande do Sul. As theoretical references, we used the concepts of cyberculture (LEVY, 1999) and hypertext (LAJOLO; ZILBERMAN, 2009), and we consider reading as a process of attributing meanings and dialogue between the historicity of the text and the reader himself (ORLANDI, 1996). The Booktubers project, developed in the second semester of 2019, aimed to bring reading and literature closer to students, using a digital environment, which is a part of their daily practices. The project had as final products four videos starring students from 6th to 9th grade, published on YouTube and on the school’s social networks, which have more than 900 views on the video platform. From the development of the work we concluded that it is possible to combine the new technologies with reading and use them to encourage reading, also, that the school library is a privileged space for pedagogical support and contributes to the formation of readers.
