Language and Territoriality: Dialogues on Geolinguistics, Variation, and Contact

Linguistic variation constitutes a field of language study that highlights the heterogeneous, dynamic, and socially conditioned nature of languages. In this context, Geolinguistics and Language Contact studies play a central role in the description and interpretation of linguistic uses across different spaces and communities, making it possible to understand the geographical distribution of languages and the effects of contact between languages and cultures.

In this regard, Revista Letrônica invites researchers to submit articles for the thematic dossier dedicated to studies on linguistic variation, with an emphasis on geolinguistic and contact-based perspectives.

This issue intends to bring together contributions on linguistic diversity, including diatopic analyses and the various diastratic dimensions, as well as studies exploring interfaces with Sociolinguistics, Pluridimensional Dialectology, Dialectometry, and related fields.

Contributions discussing variation phenomena in different languages and sociocultural contexts will be considered, including research on languages in contact, processes of language change, the formation of dialect areas, the description and interpretation of linguistic atlas data, as well as studies making use of technological resources for the collection, processing, cartographic representation, and analysis of linguistic data.

The aim of the dossier is to foster dialogue between theoretical-methodological traditions and innovative perspectives, highlighting recent advances in the field and critical reflections on analytical methods and tools, while promoting interdisciplinary approaches that connect Geolinguistics with Linguistics in general, Computer Science, Statistics, and other areas within the Social Sciences.

Articles must be original and follow the journal’s submission guidelines.
