CALL FOR PAPERS v. 17, n. 1, 2024
COUNTERDISCOURSES OF RESISTANCE IN DIFFERENT CONTEXTS OF INTERACTION
From a dialogical perspective, every discourse can be considered a counterdiscourse as it responds to the discourse of others, either from the present, from the past, and/or from the future, evoking the already-said and the never-said on a specific theme. This highlights alterity relationships that are discursively materialized, orienting the study of the specificities based on which speakers mutually oppose themselves in defending distinct world views. Considering that various crises (social, economic, political, etc.) established in contemporary societies impact, directly or not, the relationships between the self and the other, this dossier aims at giving visibility to the investigation of resistance counterdiscourses, which actively respond to intolerant discourses, along with authoritarian and discriminatory discourses, among others, in various contexts of interaction. Drawing on discourse theories and their interfaces, the following questions guide the research: How are resistance discourses constituted? Which discursive mechanisms are adopted to reclaim and debunk the discourse of the other, resignifying it? How does technology impact the construction of meaning? What contributions does research provide to the reconstruction of social settings? Thus, this call for papers welcomes reflections that illuminate the tense dialogue between discourses and their resistance counterdiscourses in digital, work, and educational contexts, among others, in order to more broadly collaborate on promoting an ethics of resistance. This can be observed in emancipatory counterdiscourses, as well as in contemporary social practices focused on the responsible exercise of citizenship, gender equality, health democratization, inclusive urban accessibility, and other ways to preserve the environment and human rights.
