Sobre a natureza da ignorância
Ausência de conhecimento ou ausência de crença verdadeira?

O presente artigo apresenta uma introdução ao debate entre duas alternativas relevantes que disputam a definição da ignorância proposicional, quais sejam, a Concepção Padrão e a Concepção Nova. Para a primeira, ignorância é ausência de conhecimento; para a segunda, ausência de crença verdadeira. Considerando essa divergência, cada uma dessas alternativas será exposta tendo em vista como definem a ignorância, os possíveis tipos de ignorância e as condições específicas para a ignorância proposicional. Além disso, suas vantagens e desvantagens referentes à ignorância proposicional serão brevemente contrapostas a partir dos seguintes pontos: usos na linguagem natural, unificação teórica, capacidade de lidar com casos de crença verdadeira ou crença verdadeira justificada que não são conhecimento e, por fim, relações entre ignorância e culpa. Com isso, esse artigo visa contribuir com a difusão em língua portuguesa de uma discussão recente, mas em crescimento na epistemologia analítica contemporânea.
