About a Tupiniquim Philosophical Canon

After the wave of deconstruction of thought that marked the last decade of philosophy among us, perhaps the time of ebb and flow of thought has come, namely, the time to debate the existence of a Brazilian philosophical canon, precisely at a time when the legitimacy of science and, above all, Philosophy, is called into question. This issue demands attention: since the 16th century, Philosophy has been taught in these lands, so what would be the reasons for affirming or denying the existence of a Brazilian philosophy? To answer the question, in the first part of this paper, we situate an idea of a philosophical canon in the light of national academic production; in the second, we analyze the possibility of a restricted and a broad concept of canon moving from literature to philosophy; in the third, we compare five antithetical pairs of philosophical definitions by Brazilian authors and, finally, we analyze how the philosophical production within the National Postgraduate System (NPS) has enabled or not the debate about the legitimacy of Brazilian philosophy.
