DOI: http://dx.doi.org/10.15448/1980-6108.2014.1.17317 The support of a multidisciplinary team and the education for healthier habits can increase the ability of patients with chronic kidney disease to cope with the disease and to comply with a hemodialysis program, improving their motivation to adhere to necessary therapeutic and lifestyle interventions. The strategies of the multidisciplinary team should be directed to the needs of patients and must adapt to the resources of the health system in each country; the systematic implementation of these programs can contribute to the improvement in care for people with chronic kidney disease.
