Abstract

Emotional regulation is the ability to change emotional experience in order to adapt to situations. This research aimed to study the validity of the Online Emotional Regulation Questionnaire (QoRE), comparing it to other instruments that assess related constructs. Participants were 824 adults from different regions of Brazil who responded to the QoRE and Difficulties in Emotion Regulation Scales (emotional dysregulation), Clinical Dimensional Personality Inventory (mood instability), Factorial Battery of Personality (neuroticism), Quality of Life and Dula Dangerous Direction Index (dangerous behaviors in traffic). The results showed strong negative correlations with emotional dysregulation, mood instability and neuroticism, moderate to strong positive correlations with quality of life, and moderate negative correlations with dangerous direction for all QoRE scores except for factor 2. There is evidence of convergent and related constructs validity for QoRE in the assessment of emotional regulation.
