Kaufman Creativity Domain Scale (K-DOCS)

Adaptation and validity study for the Brazilian population

Abstract

The Kaufman Creativity Domain Scale (K-DOCS) has been widely used in different areas. However, its psychometric properties have not been investigated for Brazil. Given that, this study sought to investigate validity evidence based on the internal structure and with external variables, replicating the structure of an original study, by correlating it with the Big Five Inventory (BFI). The sample consisted of 154 participants, 55% female (M=28.2; SD=9.41). Exploratory factor analysis indicated the expected structure of five factors (artistic, everyday, performance, scholarly, science, with factor loadings higher than 0.30, and a factor convergence higher than 0.80. As for the relationship with external variables, Pearson correlations were  moderate to strong between K-DOCS and BFI. The results suggest the adequacy of the instrument and that new studies with the instruments are relevant considering specific populations such as academics, writers, artists.
