Abstract

The text is an opinion on the ideas of Michel Maffesoli, sociologist of communication, who makes a counterpoint between communication and information. It is a reading of the atmosphere of our time and of postmodern relations. Maffesoli tries to understand, beyond moral imperatives, communication as a "social cement" in a time of crisis of the old certainties and collapse of the old political utopias that, through the promise of the earthly future paradise, served as social "glue" for socially Helpless.

Author Biography

Juremir Machado da Silva, Pontifical Catholic University of Rio Grande do Sul

He holds a degree in Journalism from the Pontifical Catholic University of Rio Grande do Sul (1984), a degree in History from the Pontifical Catholic University of Rio Grande do Sul (1984), a Master's Degree in Sociology of Culture - Université Paris Descartes (1992) and a Ph.D. Culture - Université Paris V René Descartes (1995). He is currently a lecturer at the Pontifical Catholic University of Rio Grande do Sul where he coordinated the Postgraduate Program in Communication from 2003 to 2014.
