Abstract

According to poststructuralist semiotics, a sign, a form, a text, can no longer continue to be considered mere vehicles or receptacles for the transport and propagation of a single, fixed, pre-determined content, meaning, or meaning; Because material signals only "contain" themselves, and only produce meaning or meaning when interpreted, that is, only after being connected with other signs, present in the text (in prae-sentia) and / or in the memory of the interpreting subject Texts in absentia). Therefore, what always comes before us are marks without meaning and that only begin to have meaning when and if we interpret them. Therefore, signs can not be sent, but only received (Harland 1987: 132). It is our reading / writing that transforms any exchange or communication of signs into signs.
