This paper analyzes the Australian horror film Host (Rob Savage, 2020), made for the streaming channel Shudder, in the first half of 2020, during the quarantine that paralyzed the planet because of the COVID-19 pandemic. Directed for emulating a seance by six friends via the Zoom app, the film, staged by six actresses and an one actor with home cameras, brings to the fore the discomfort of confinement mediated by computers and cell phones. By analyzing the film Host, we will seek to observe how this horror film offers us reflections on the first global quarantine experience permeated by digital media and the internet.
