Abstract

This text shows the theoretical connection concerning the imaginary aspects of life forms between the Brazilian author of the beginning of the last century Gilberto Freyre and the French sociologist Michel Maffesoli, despite the limitations imposed by the distance in space and time between the two thinkers.

Author Biography

Muniz Sodré, Universidade Federal do Rio de Janeiro

Possui graduação em Direito pela Universidade Federal da Bahia (1964), mestrado em Sociologia da Informação e Comunicação - Université de Paris IV (Paris-Sorbonne) (1967) e doutorado em Letras (Ciência da Literatura) pela Universidade Federal do Rio de Janeiro (1978) e é Livre-Docente em Comunicação pela UFRJ. Atualmente é Professor Emérito da Universidade Federal do Rio de Janeiro, foi Presidente da Fundação Biblioteca Nacional de 2005 a 2011, órgão vinculado ao Ministério da Cultura. Possui cerca de 30 livros publicados nas áreas de Comunicação e Cultura.
