Abstract

A few times the most talked-about and bereft of French cinema Eric Rohmer turned to the period dramas. Now, with the exhibition of The English and the Duke (L'anglaise et lê duc, 2001), today's viewer can find Rohmer's very private calligraphy to reconstitute the past; It should also be welcomed that it is one of the achievements of the filmmaker that pity for less time to reach the view of the Brazilian public (two years late for the Rohmer films to arrive here is something whimsical).
