This paper presents the findings of a survey on final unstressed mid vowel raising in Portuguese language spoken by descendants of Polish immigrants in the city of Vista Alegre do Prata-RS. Based on the theoretical and methodological assumptions of the Variation Theory, 24 personal experience interviews with informants from the community were carried out. The statistical analysis of data has shown us that the rule has a modest recurrence in the community, being the /o/ raising more frequent than the /e/ raising. It was also verified that linguistic and social variables affect the application of the rule for both vowels.Downloads
