Abstract

Les aveux de la chair was published in France, in March 2018. This posthumous work by Michel Foucault appears as the fourth volume of The History of Sexuality. As an archeologist of knowledge, he seeks in primitive Christianity for the origin and evolution of self-care. This article will not cover all the themes presented in the original study, but focus on confession, a theme that can be found in the history of early Christianity. By studying the Christian matrix, Foucault could define the bases for understanding the hermeneutics of the subject.
