In 1808, Portugal started to analyze its former interests and new possibilities in order to guarantee its hegemony in America and renewed economic measures to try to solve old problems. The purpose of this paper is to understand the way in which the Portuguese Crown, through diplomatic speculation available at the time, moved its newly installed political, economic and military apparatus in Brazil in order to expand its inaccurate southern borders to the Prata River as soon as the Portuguese Court arrived in American territory.Downloads
