Todos estamos recordados das imagens dos canais de Veneza a exalar transparência e limpidez há muito impossíveis, em resultado da total paralisação da atividade económica e particularmente turista, naquela cidade do norte de Itália. Ora a pandemia de Covid-19 colocou em estado manifesto tensões e incongruências do modelo de desenvolvimento económico, assente no livre comércio e desregulação dos mercados tão caraterísticos das últimas três décadas. Tanto a pandemia como as Alterações Climáticas, convocam-nos para desafios que ultrapassam as comunidades locais e até nacionais, remetendo-nos para um necessário diálogo internacional, quiçá um premente e tão desejado novo contrato social.
