Abstract

The Revolta da Armada was an important occurrence in the political Brazilian scenery by the time of the change of government form. It influenced both the internal and the external politics of the rising Brazilian Republic. In these circumstances, the foreign intervention together with the movement of the rebels would be decisive for the destiny of the rebellion. When the government controlled the rebellion and the rebels took refuge in Portuguese ships, there was a shake within the relations between Brazil and Portugal, causing the diplomatic rupture.
