This article pretends, on the occasion of the fifties anniversary of the manifest of the "Economic Commission for Latin America and the Caribbean" (CEPAL), to develop two different subjects concerning the relationship between the CEPAL and Latin America: the first topic shows the important of the CEPAL for Latin America and the second one, analyzes its theoretical and methodological contribution.
