Abstract

The French travelers who carne to Brazil from the 16th through the 18th centuries produced records in which it is possible to detect visions and sights that evolved, not necessarily according to current chronological splitterings, which refer to the 16th century as a Modem Age. Medieval remainings are evident until the 17th century, an effective change taking place only from the 1700's onwards.
