A summary is presented of the advantages of utilizing the comparative method in History in the research of the history of the PCB (Communist Party of Brazil). Different historical moments of the trajectory of the PCB are compared, as well as the orientations adopted by the Party with respect to the Communist International. In addition, the nationalistic positions of the PCB are compared with the nationalistic sentiment that was expanding in Brazil since 1938.
