Abstract

In this article, I aim to analyze the influence of the freemasonry in the secularization process in Brazil and Uruguay, during the 19th century. In this sense, I try to establish a comparative and connection board between the two distinct historical realities, in a period in which national Latin American States were built and in which the separation of State and Church was accelerated and consolidated.
