The current article analyzes statements by a small group of Roman Catholic priests from Rio Grande do Sul about catholic anti-communism. It intends to explain a common denominator among the memories of the group: the direct relationship between communism and persecution to the Church in Mexico and Spain, with special reference to the martyrdom of Father Miguel Pró in Mexico, seen as an anticommunist hero.
